Development
Parastichopus parvimensis development is indirect via auricularia and doliolaria stages (Barnes et al. 2001). Adults were collected from the breakwater area in Monterey Bay. Cultures were kept in either sea water tables at 14°C or seawater columns at 14.5°C. All maintenance, experiments, and imaging was taken at Hopkins Marine Station.
I spend my time in the water column floating around and eating! What a life! Click here to check me out and how I contribute to my adult form!
Although I am a bit smaller than I was when I was an auricularia, I am just as interesting! Check me out and learn more, especially to learn more about what I do to my crazy ciliary bands.
Finally! I look somewhat like my adult form, just a little disproportionate and awkward. A little... But hey, what else do you expect of a juvenile?
